Arkansas First Tee Classic
The Kentucky Golf Association and Kentucky Section PGA are pleased to announce that Ms. April Emerson of Jamestown has been presented with the Jace Bugg Sportsmanship Award, which has been given annually since 2005 to the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour member who best exemplifies the values of true sportsmanship on and off the course. Ms. Emerson competes in the Gatorade Masters Series on the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour, and was presented with the award on July 31 at ceremonies following the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour Championship at Oxmoor Country Club in Louisville.
The award is named for the late Jace Bugg of Henderson, who was a veteran of the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour. Jace was the 1997 Kentucky Golf Association Player of the Year, and went on to success as a touring professional, winning the 2002 Nationwide Tour's Arkansas Classic. He was diagnosed with leukemia later that year, and passed away on December 4, 2003 at the age of 27.
